Don't Overthink It...

Life Book 2015, Week, 17, led by Jenny Lee Wentworth.  We are to create an expressive drawing using only paint, brush, charcoal - no drawing beforehand - just go for it.

Nothing is too precious - add a little more paint - won't hurt anything - might even help!

It Snot What You Think!

My friend Kristy Claiborne Graves posted a picture of a "yarn keeper" made by Lucky Stradley on Facebook the other day.  I thought this was a riot and wanted to make one for myself.

I made Two!

Photo Kristy posted on Facebook of Lucky Stradley's artwork

The Big Reveal

Life Book 2015, Week 16, led by Alena Hennessy.  We are to create a background for a journal page using five colors and limit ourselves to 10 minutes.

Of course, I had to draw something on this crazy background!

On Friday I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee.  Tomorrow (Monday) the bandage comes off - so glad! My knee is stiff and sore.

Things happen...

My doctor said no more power walking until my stress fracture has healed.  He did say I could swim (I haven't gotten into a bathing suit in years!) OR ride a bike.  Oh joy - I can still exercise daily.   I usually only ride my bike on Sundays.  I planned a new route (no hills) and started riding as soon as I could after the sun came up.  I enjoyed my new route for 4 days and then a flat tire - aach!!  Luckily Richard fixed it for me so I can go out again tomorrow morning.

The quilt I am working on was ready to be quilted.  I actually started the quilting - before long the bobbin tension was acting crazy.  Unsewing is NOT something I like to do!  I tried everything to get the tension right - finally decided it was time to take my beloved machine into be serviced.

It's always something - right?!

Stressed Out!

While in Mexico, I twisted my leg walking down a steep cobblestoned street.  This happened in January.  The pain in my knee just did not go away - finally in March I went to see a sports medicine doctor.

The news was not good.  It could have been a lot worse - I know this, but ugh the thought of surgery - even arthroscopic surgery gives me the willies. Walking daily is a big part of my life.  I love my morning walks.  I have to cut back on the mileage until the stress fracture heals.  There will be some down time too with the surgery...it makes me tired just thinking about it.
