Woman Unleashed - Day 12

Day 11 guide, Tulasi Adeva, talked about yoga as well as "Return to Center - a Rhythmic Homecoming Ritual."  Something Tulasi said made me think "heart in hand".

Woman Unleashed - Day 11

Today's guide, Amber Jean, talked about "Creating a Reliquary: Honor the Energy of a meaningful object by creating a small shrine to house a personal relic."

I chose to make a small shrine to fit inside my Woman Unleashed journal.  I had a little charm that fit the theme of Woman Unleashed perfectly!

Woman Unleashed - Day 10

Day 10 brings us two guides.  Karen Rauch Carter - "How to Create Spaces to Restore, Revive, Rejuvenate and Rest "(that's a lot of Rs!!) your basic everyday Feng Shui, which I know little about and Mellissa Bottalli - "Heal Anything with the Power of Re-Nature-Ing" - more Rs!!

I incorporated the five elements of Feng Shui - earth (yellow squares), fire (red triangles), metal (gold/brass circles), water (dark tones free flow shapes), wood (green rectangles).

As far as healing myself, I need to learn to let go of the things that keep me awake at night!

Woman Unleashed - Day 9

One of today's guides was Whitney Freya - founder of The Creatively Fit Coaching Certification. Whitney suggested we close our eyes and draw a line with any tool.  Once the line has been drawn, see what can be made of it.

The green marker line was my starting point...it was fun to just let my imagination run wild.

Woman Unleashed - Day 8

Two guides led Day 8 - Alexandra Pope (A woman's inner retreat - an exploration of menstruation as a woman's natural time of rest, renewal and visioning) and Laurie Wagner (Wild Writing).

I must admit, I've never considered menstruation  as a special time - I'm so happy, at my age, NOT to have to deal with that now...Alexandra had many positive and thoughtful things to say about it.

Woman Unleashed - Day 7

Day 7's guide is Tamara Laporte.  Her theme is self empathy.

I purposely did not finish this piece as I consider myself a work in progress...

Woman Unleashed - Day 6

Christmas Day - We had a wonderful day.  Early morning walk, Mass, breakfast, phone conversations with our family, a movie (Trumbo), relaxing dinner of turkey sandwiches.   I'm ready for a nap!

I did find time to work on my WU journal during our busy day.  Day 6 guide was Giovanna Silvestre.  Giovanna spoke of yoga and creating a gratitude journal.

Woman Unleashed - Day 5

It's Christmas Eve.  Day 5 guide is Chris Zydel - her theme is "Sacred Power of Self Forgiveness."  I needed to hear Chris' message.  I'm giving myself the gift of Self Forgiveness for Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Woman Unleashed - Day 4

Two guides today.  First up was Lisa Schrader sharing her insight on "awakening your sacred sensual power" of the Divine Feminine.  I love the whole concept of this!  Our second guide was Char Tosi explaining the concept of "archetypes to empower your life with woman."  Who couldn't love that topic!

My drawings reflect my thoughts on what these two women shared.

Woman Unleashed - Day 3

Day 3 - Painting intuitively led by Alena Hennessey.  I'm more of a realist, but it is fun to just be free and go with the flow...thus my offering today.

Woman Unleashed - Day 2

Day 2 - Debbie Rosas' NIA technique (Non Impact Aerobics).  I've never heard of this technique until today.  Debbie Rosas is an interesting and insightful woman.  The five stages of self healing relate to 1. fish; 2. lizard; 3. bear; 4. monkey; and 5. human.  If you'd like to learn more about Debbie's technique, go here: www.nianow.com.

Coming to an end...

I've bound my 2015 journal.  I bound it in much the same way as my 2014 journal.  If you're interested to see my method, go here http://patkumicich2.blogspot.com/2014/12/2014-journal.html

My LifeBook journey is complete.   I look forward to pursuing new and different art challenges in 2016.

Woman Unleashed

I was invited to participate in an on-line retreat workshop.  You can join in on the fun too.  Go here http://theradiantmama.com/OP/optin-2016/ for more details.  The price is right - FREE!

My supplies were simple to create an art journal for the retreat.

Cereal box (front and back journal cover) covered with brown paper bag.  Water color paper cut to size (6x9).  I made a relatively small journal - I've got a lot going on in my life right now...keeping things small is the right choice for me.  The Cinch machine made binding a breeze.

Mixed media was used to create my cover.  (Acrylic paints, water soluble crayons, white paint pens, gel pens, acrylic ink.)

I'm ready to play - first day of retreat is December 20 - what are you waiting for?!

Second Chance...

Something about my original drawing was really bugging me.  The woman wasn't doing it for me, but I liked the birds.

original drawing

Gesso is my friend.  I covered up the portions I didn't like, added some color, started again.

I like this better - but who knows - in another week or so it may turn into something altogether different!

Small Works...

I recently learned that my artwork "When Will the Terror End?" was accepted into the Foothills Art Center "2016 The Engaged Object" exhibition in Golden, CO.  Only 27 works from the 212 submitted were accepted.  I'm thrilled to be one of the selected artists.

I was asked to submit some work for the gallery gift shop.  These small works were created as a result of my love of fiber art and mixed media.
