Life is Sweet!

Life Book 2014 Week 5 led by Marieke Blokland.  Marieke is a big fan of sweets - candy, chocolate, cake, etc.  We are to draw sweetly :-)

Be True To You...

Week 4 of Life Book 2014 led by Kelly Hoernig.  We are to create a journal page incorporating things we love and, if possible, include our word for the year.


I love to sew, read a good book, smell the flowers, create texture and mail!  I know it's silly, but I look forward to seeing the mail truck every day.

Creative Exercises...

Life Book 2014 Week 3 led by Carla Sonheim.  We are to draw and write using creative prompts:

drawing animals with our eyes close
make whimsical animals out of paint blobs
draw five figures using continuous line
poems with cut out words
collage flowers
Washabi collage animals

Create an envelope to house these drawings

40 Portraits

I joined a group on Face Book called Gritty Jane's 40 Portraits.  Just what I need - another challenge! Actually, it is good for me.  I'm drafting a much larger piece for a quilt.  These little drawings are good warm up for me.

It's All About Me...

Week 2 of Life Book 2014 is led by Micki Wilde.  We are to create a page with a happy affirmation regarding our expectations for the upcoming year.

I'm totally in the "zone" in my studio.  Normally, we take care of everyone else first, but not so in my studio.  That's my place and I come first!  It is so nice to indulge my creative side this way - no worries - no fears - just get my hands dirty and enjoy the process.

Time to Celebrate!

Today we celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary.  Color me happy!



Painted water color paper, cut holes on the side; stitched down a heart cut from a small quilt I made.

And so it "begins"

Week 1 of Life Book 2014 is led by Tamara Laporte. We are to create our own Inner Artist Guardian to guide us through the upcoming year.  I chose to make two versions.  One a full size page on water color paper for my Life Book Journal and a small 4x4 canvas.  The little canvas will sit on a shelf in my studio and offer encouragement throughout the year.

My process:

 The word "begin" is my word of choice for the year.  At Mass yesterday, the last song sung was "Let There Be Peace on Earth."  I love that tune.  I was thinking about beginning Life Book and thought "BEGIN" that's a perfect word!

Messing Around...

My husband, Richard, is truly a good sport.  I was messing around with my camera and asked him to help me with a selfie.  We were mugging for the camera having a great old time.  We started out the New Year with a laugh.  I hope you did too!
