The Stitch...

Dyeing - done...
Quilt top - finished...
Machine quilting - done...

Hand stitching 6-8 hours at a stretch, my wrist gets very sore.  The brace helps tremendously!

Another couple of weeks and this quilt will be complete.

Here's Mud in Your Eye...

Life Book 2013 Week 12 led by Mindy Lacefield.   She uses a ton of supplies - most of which I do not own - the challenge for me is to use the supplies I have and get on with it!

Lots of writing, scribbles etc. on the base paper - paints, stencils, stamps over top.  (I decided to work on my fabric book at the same time - a two-fer!!)

Drawing figures - the faces got very muddy mixing paints, ink and the like together.  I was having a fine time making a complete mess of this!

the Good, Bad and the Ugly - Keeps Popping Up!

Week 11 of Life Book 2013 is led by Michelle Kral.  We are making a pop-up page around the theme "the Good, the Bad and the Ugly."  Michelle is quite the character and says it is okay to admit our shortcomings.

We  all do it, don't we - gossip (maybe a little)  and keep our ugly shortcomings (secrets) to ourselves...never admiting we have faults.  Please tell me we all do it...please!!

My process making the journal page.
My first pop up page ever - I have never created one before - how about you?

The bad and the ugly (outside page)
The devil in me is enjoying gossip more than I'd like to admit! and secrets - give me a break!

The good (inside page)
The blue bird of happiness; taking time to smell the flowers - allowing myself to feel HAPPY!

Soups on!

Tonight we have dear friends joining us for dinner.   They spend 2-3 months in Naples escaping the cold Chicago winter.  Since it's a bit cool here tonight - at least for my husband and me (our guests think it's more like spring!),  I'm making a simple meal of soup (Ina Garten's Winter Minestrone), salad and dessert, of course!
