My Blue Zone...

Have you heard of the Blue Zone project?  I'm not much into having city/county officials trying to influence one's choices over what to eat, how to exercise...blah, blah, blah

I think I know better than anyone what is healthy for me.  I prefer having control over my own lifestyle choices!

Small 5/7 canvas depicting my blue zone!

Blocking In...

Blocking in mid-tones...this is going to be harder to do than I thought!

Woman Unleashed - Day 12

Day 11 guide, Tulasi Adeva, talked about yoga as well as "Return to Center - a Rhythmic Homecoming Ritual."  Something Tulasi said made me think "heart in hand".

Woman Unleashed - Day 3

Day 3 - Painting intuitively led by Alena Hennessey.  I'm more of a realist, but it is fun to just be free and go with the flow...thus my offering today.

Not just another pretty face...

Life Book 2015, Week 24, led by Juliette Crane.  We are to create a background and paint a face.

Realism is not my thing.  I love making goofy faces.

abstract

This abstract painting is taking on a life of its own.  I'm not sure where it's going, but I'm enjoying the journey.  I've got more to do on this...

Catching up...

Now that my studio is finished, I can create art once again.

Life Book 2014 Week 25 led by Effy Wild.  We are to work in layers and limit ourself to 15 minutes a layer.   Effy's theme is "Reverse Excavation."

I'm way behind - just trying to catch up.  It's wonderful to leave the chaos of the move behind and have fun.  I admit it - I didn't work 15 minutes at a time.  Once I'm in the zone, I'm off and running.

finished!

ATC - Rituals

Life Book 2014 Week 24 we are to create two ATCs (Artist Trading Cards).  One card to keep and one to trade.  The theme is rituals - what we do as artists to get our creative juices flowing.  I don't really have a ritual per se, but I find that I do get a lot of ideas swirling around in my head when I'm listening to music - especially when I'm out for a walk.  It's a peaceful time - nothing in particular on my mind - just enjoying the music and exercise.

I created a background on watercolor paper then drew a couple of whimsical girls groovin' to the music.  Once dry, the paper was cut to size.  These sweet little drawings measure 2-1/2W by 3-1/2H.

I can hardly wait to see who I am paired up with for the swap!

Crossing the finish line...

I am nearly done with the FB Gritty Jane 40 Portrait Challenge.  It's been a lot of fun, but honestly, I need to concentrate on other things.  The good and bad news - my sewing machine needs repair.  Luckily, I have a spare.  While I wait for my machine to come home, I can finish up with this challenge.

and now I present No. 40
"Time to Celebrate!" - whew, glad's that's over :-)

Pop, Pop, Pop Up!

Life Book 2014 Week 7 led by Jane Davenport.  Using a variety of materials, we are to create pop up figures representing characteristics we like not only in others, but ourselves as well.

My words are TRUST, DARING and JOYFUL.  I had a bit of trouble getting my pop-ups to stand properly inside the book page...maybe I'll try again one day (I doubt it!)

40 Portrait Challenge (continued)

Drawing with my right hand or left hand - it does not seem to matter.  I'm glad there are only to be 40 portraits for this challenge as I am seriously addicted!  I'm having a hard time concentrating on...just about everything else.  One minute I think I'll never have another idea for a portrait and the next thing I know...

Here are #21-28 for Gritty Jane's 40 Portrait Challenge...

I know moms are not to have favorite children, but I really love #21 and #25.  Do you have a favorite? Let me know which one and why!

Little gifts...

Can you believe it - Christmas is just around the corner.  I thought I'd get started on making some little gifts...

Each painting is 3x3.  The addition of a little easel makes it really special!
