Playing around with different mixed media techniques can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Experimentation and note taking is the key to developing a technique.
I recently bought new bed linens. The old flat sheets saved to be used as drop cloths, bottom sheets and pillowcases were saved for the studio. The pillowcases were torn to size; layers of joint compound, gesso and matte medium added. Image transfer, water colors, stitch - everything is fair game on play days!
These will be used as pages for a fabric book.
The photo is of my Aunt Claire on her First Holy Communion. The pocket watch belonged to my father (a gift from my mother). He managed to keep it in one piece for years and years. I've had it in my possession for 22+ years. The other day, I accidentally knocked it off a table while dusting (I knew housecleaning was a bad thing!) I hope I can get the watch crystal replaced. (The watch is NOT part of the book. I added it only for the photograph composition.) Miscellaneous ephemera added.

Sweet photo of your Aunt! Love your book so far. So nice to have your Dad's watch, sorry about the crystal. I hope you share more of your book! xx
All those keepsakes are indeed frozen time. Collected with love.

Oh how beautiful!!! <3
Waste not want not. Wonderful how you made a digital composition to stand alone by incorporating the watch. I am intrigued by your transformation of the fabric with gesso, joint compound and medium, turning it into pages.
wow I envy you and your drive towards creativity - I can so admire it, but don't do it. I love the composition with the watch. good luck on getting it fixed.
